Set in a slaughterhouse and steeped in magical realism, Slaughter City gives voice to these forgotten workers, wielding “passion, poetry, and wild strangeness” to protest labor exploitation, as well as grappling with issues of race and gender. Playwright Naomi Wallace weaves a tale of struggle and hope, presenting a deeply human story that addresses the lives and loves of the men and women behind the food we eat.
